“The more you write, the bigger the imagined world gets. And the other life stays on the chair, quiet, where the body is still.” Yu Hua

“I couldn’t say who I am. I don’t have the slightest idea. I have no roots, no story, no country, and I like it that way. I’m here. I’m free. I can imagine anything. Everything’s possible. I only have to lift my eyes and once again I become the world. Now, on this very spot, a feeling of happiness that I could keep forever.“

Marion – Wings of Desire

ABOUT THIS PLACE

This here is my quiet tribute to my daughter Lauren and my grandson Bodhi — may they see me not as the ghost in my mistakes, but as a man still trying to turn whatever’s left of himself into light……
Some nights the words come in sideways, like a drunk knocking at the wrong door, and some nights they come clean as rain on a windshield. Either way, I built a small place—a dim little shop with a bell over the door—where they can find me.
I guess what I’m saying is:
This is my workshop now. A hard floor in the horizon. A corner of the world where anything I feel like writing—stories, warnings, confessions, little flare-ups of truth—can wander in and take a seat.
If you ever want to see what I’m writing when I should be asleep, or what I’m remembering when I wish I could forget, it’ll eventually be there. Whatever drifts through my hands on the way to becoming a sentence.

Come by anytime you want. Coffee is brewing.

It’s all dogs and before and after here now.

In Dada socks,

G
